ExPEERience Talk #15: Oil, Human Rights, and Local Communities in Uganda

The ExPEERience Talks are back!

For this new edition, we will be welcoming members ofAvocats Sans Frontières, Civic Response on Environment and Development , and Fédération Internationale pour les Droits Humains, which will explore the impact of oil project development on human rights and local communities in Uganda.

The development of these extraction projects is entering a new critical phase, the HEATED report highlights serious abuses affecting local communities, particularly with regard to projects led by industry giants such as TotalEnergies and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).

This webinar will address the current challenges and strategies for protecting the rights of communities affected by oil exploitation in Uganda. It aims to disseminate the main conclusions of the HEATED report, to raise awareness of the realities faced up by local communities and to to set out report's recommendations .
