{"id":859,"date":"2024-06-24T16:30:37","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T14:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/justiceexpeerience.org\/?page_id=859"},"modified":"2024-07-12T13:57:04","modified_gmt":"2024-07-12T11:57:04","slug":"communities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/justiceexpeerience.org\/en\/communities\/","title":{"rendered":"Justice ExPEERience communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">On the different areas of the platform, network members can work together, in <b>coalitions<\/b> or <b>communities of practice<\/b>, maintaining the desired level of openness or confidentiality of their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In 2022, Justice ExPEERience saw the development of several communities of practice, made up of researchers, activists, jurists and civil society players implementing projects in different countries. On Justice ExPEERience, they deploy and coordinate joint actions for <b>monitoring<\/b> human rights violations, <b>strategic litigation<\/b> and <b>advocacy<\/b>, on a local, regional or international scale. In the confidential spaces dedicated to them, communities of practice have access to a <b>shared and collaborative library<\/b>, which members enrich to encourage the horizontal dissemination of expertise and peer-to-peer learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph translation-block\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">This <b>sharing of expertise<\/b> and information also takes place in thematic areas open to all members, making Justice ExPEERience itself an <b>international, multi-sectoral community of practice<\/b>. To energize the network and nurture exchanges between members, Justice ExPEERience offers its members a monthly webinar, the <b>ExPEERience Talks<\/b>, during which a network member presents a research project, a tool or an analysis related to the promotion of human rights and access to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-right:0;margin-bottom:0;margin-left:0;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\"><strong>Communities of practice <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-background-color has-primary-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph translation-block\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">On Justice ExPEERience, numerous communities of practice have developed. These are based on <b>peer learning<\/b>, <b>the pooling of resources and knowledge, and ongoing collaboration<\/b>. Bringing together people from different backgrounds within communities of practice is designed both to foster horizontal capacity-building (peer learning) and to develop joint initiatives and concrete actions (litigation, advocacy, etc.). Such collaborations are based on an immediate interest in working towards a common goal, and on mutual trust between group members. One indicator of a well-functioning community of practice is the ability to mobilize the group to answer its members' questions and move the collective project forward over the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A community of practice on detention in the DRC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">For the past 3 years, a community of practice, particularly active on Justice ExPEERience, has been working on the development of strategic litigation in the field of detention in the DRC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:44% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3250\" height=\"3250\" data-attachment-id=\"505\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/justiceexpeerience.org\/en\/?attachment_id=505\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/justiceexpeerience.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/1-1.png?fit=3250%2C3250&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"3250,3250\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"1-1\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/justiceexpeerience.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/1-1.png?fit=1024%2C1024&amp;ssl=1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/justiceexpeerience.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/1-1.png?resize=3250%2C3250&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-505 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">This working group brings together a <b>dozen lawyers<\/b> from various provinces of the DRC who, after drawing up an alarming report on the violation of the rights of incarcerated persons, decided, with the support of ASF and specialized lawyers, to launch a <b>dliability procedure against the Congolese state<\/b>  concerning <b>prison overcrowding<\/b>, <b>inhuman and degrading<\/b> detention conditions, and the <b>abusive use of arbitrary detention beyond the limits of the law<\/b>, combined with an <b>advocacy campaign<\/b> aimed at the media and local and national authorities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Through their <b>collaborative work<\/b>, sometimes face-to-face and especially remotely, first on Slack and then on Justice ExPEERience, members of the community of practice were able to benefit from <b>capacity building<\/b> in strategic litigation, then identify cases that could constitute such litigation and <b>collectively develop<\/b> the legal means to defend these cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 44%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><b>In September 2020<\/b>, emblematic cases were brought to trial on the same day in 6 provinces of the DRC. Today, the lawyers continue to <b>collaborate remotely, on Justice ExPEERience<\/b>, to advance the litigation strategy.
