{"id":1643,"date":"2025-02-25T09:35:07","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T08:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/justiceexpeerience.org\/?p=1643"},"modified":"2025-02-25T09:35:07","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T08:35:07","slug":"la-protection-des-avocat%c2%b7e%c2%b7s-en-tunisie-un-imperatif-pour-preserver-les-libertes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/justiceexpeerience.org\/en\/2025\/02\/25\/la-protection-des-avocat%c2%b7e%c2%b7s-en-tunisie-un-imperatif-pour-preserver-les-libertes\/","title":{"rendered":"The Protection of Lawyers in Tunisia: A Necessity to Safeguard Freedoms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">In light of the increasing attacks and violations targeting Tunisian lawyers, it is crucial<strong> to highlight the obstacles and intimidation they face<\/strong> , both in the exercise of their duties and in their political and activist engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">From the Ben Ali regime to the present day, the legal profession in Tunisia has played <strong>an essential role<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">However, in recent years, lawyers have become the victims of numerous attacks <strong>restricting their freedom to practice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through a <ins><a href=\"https:\/\/asf.be\/publication\/defendre-la-defense-renforcer-la-protection-des-avocat%c2%b7e%c2%b7s-pour-preserver-les-libertes-en-tunisie-francais\/?lang=fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Policy Brief<\/a><\/ins>, Avocat Sans Fronti\u00e8res (ASF) proposes <strong>key recommendations<\/strong> to preserve their independence in a context of autocratif transition. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ending abusive prosecutions against lawyers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Putting an end to intimidation and violence against lawyers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amending Articles 8, 6 and 5 of the Military Justice Code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respecting the Basic Principles on the role of lawyers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preserving the legal immunity of lawyers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">ASF is calling for urgent action to strengthen the protection of lawyers in Tunisia.
