Since his inauguration on 20 January 2025, Donald Trump has multiplied acts of intimidation and interference<\/strong>undermining institutions and American democracy. After targeting universities, research institutions, and the media, he is now turning his attention to law firms<\/a>\u00b7e\u00b7<\/a>s<\/a> and the legal profession.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This offensive takes several forms<\/a> and threatens judicial independence as well as the democratic foundations of the United States<\/strong>Trump has dismissed lawyers at the Department of Justice deemed insufficiently loyal, replacing them with individuals who have demonstrated personal allegiance to him. He has also demanded that twenty major law firms publicly justify their commitments to diversity<\/strong>, equity, and inclusion policies. This demand aims to discredit firms upholding these values,<\/strong> forcing them to choose between their principles and their economic survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has issued\u00a0executive orders enabling the punishment<\/a>\u00a0of firms pursuing certain cases, particularly those related to national security or electoral integrity. Several firms have been targeted<\/a> due to their association with lawyers who previously investigated Trump<\/strong>.
